New Student Orientation

 

Participation in orientation is required for all students new to Tacoma Community College (TCC). New Student Orientation (NSO) provides an overview of programs and services to support you here at TCC.

If you are a student in the following programs (International Student, Running Start, Fresh Start, Basic Education for Adults (BEdA), English Language Acquisition (ELA)High School Completion or Continuing Education), please contact the program to complete your specialized orientation.  

In this orientation, you will:

  • Tell us about yourself 
  • Select your education pathway 
  • Learn how to complete the rest of your admissions steps 
  • Explore education funding resources 
  • Identify your academic advisor for class planning 
  • Learn how to enroll in a class 
  • Find out what you need to prepare for your first quarter 
  • Take your next steps 

Before you start the orientation: 

  • Be prepared for it to take about 60 minutes to complete. 
  • You can save your spot anytime by clicking the save button at the bottom of each page. 
  • We recommend using a laptop, tablet or desktop computer for ease of use.

YOUR NEXT STEPS 

After you have submitted the NSO, you will receive an email with your next steps, Academic Advisor contact information and resources guide.  

Your next step is to make an appointment with your Academic Advisor. Before you meet with your Advisor, make sure to have your accounts set up and your English and math placement complete.  

Please allow two business days for the orientation hold to be removed from your account.

Register for your In-Person Career Pathway Advising & NSO Review Session!

Students who have completed the online new student orientation (NSO) may register for this in-person Career Pathway Advising & NSO review.

During these sessions, you will meet with academic advising for class planning, review the programs and services to support your educational goals, complete any remaining admissions steps, and get many of your questions answered!  

Session Dates/Times:

  • Wednesday 9/13 5:30–7pm
  • Saturday 9/16 10am–12pm
  • Wednesday 9/20 1–3pm
  • Thursday 11/2 5:30–7pm

Validate Classes

Prior to your enrollment appointment time you can use the Shopping Cart to validate your courses. To validate means you are able to plan your schedule before you are allowed to enroll by choosing several combination of classes and checking to see if you have met the prerequisites for the course.ctcLink will tell you whether your enrollments will be successful when it's time for you to enroll. Don't forget to finish enrolling from your shopping cart once your appointment time arrives!

How to Guide: Validate Classes

For questions regarding your enrollment appointment contact enrollmentservices@storesoo.com. When either your enrollment appointment time has occurred or open enrollment has begun, you can enroll into classes.
